MAYUMI HOSOKURA: SEXUALITY AND LOSS IS THE GREATEST POWER IN LIFE
Mayumi Hosokura
Mayumi Hosokura

Mayumi Hosokura (b. 1979 in Kyoto, Japan) is excited about the human body - her focus is on the carelessness of the body in comparison with other natural phenomena. Her images often show ethereal beautiful naked young people along with images of raw but complete geometric shapes of crystals and minerals. Mayumi Hosokura focuses on the beautiful youth period's short duration towards nature's eternity. There is neither sentimentality nor regret in Mayumi's works, but a recognition that beauty is fleeting.

Mayumi Hosokura (b. 1979 Kyoto, Japan) graduated in 2005 in photography at the Nihon University, College of Art in Tokyo. Her work has amongst others been exhibited at the Yokohama Photo Festival, G/P Gallery in Tokyo and &Foam in Amsterdam.
